LonePortal.com is a retro-themed web portal/intraweb inspired by the glory days of the early 2000s internet. Think AOL, Yahoo!, GeoCities, Newgrounds, Myspace, Neopets, and Miniclip all rolled into one - but rebuilt from the ground up with modern technology.

The goal is simple: recreate the feeling of browsing the web back when it was fun, chaotic, and full of personality. Flash games, animated GIFs, forums, web rings, hit counters, buddy lists - all of it. Make it as community driven, and open as possible to put the power back in the users hands!

This site is a passion project run by Xyphien out of Indiana. It's meant to be an intraweb & community hub for people who remember the old web and want to relive it, as well as a fun curiosity for anyone who never experienced it the first time around.

We're a fairly relaxed website. I know being an intraweb may be iffy, especially depending on how power hungry the staff are. We try to be very relaxed but we have some rules. These rules can and often times will lead to a ban. So please follow them.
• No outside links: We're an Intraweb style website. You can promote anything on LonePortal, just no promoting off LonePortal. Exceptions are: Media Links to incude Imgur, Youtube, etc.
• No Explicit content. Mostly a hard no for Pornography & overly graphic content. Yes, this was the forefront to Y2K but we can do without it here.
• No Hot Topics. No politics, no religion, etc. Most of us are into the retro era of stuff for simpler times. Do not bring complicated stuff into this enviroment. We're trying to escape it.
• Respect Staff. Staff are volunteers. Even the owner is making this as a passion project. Therefore, respect them, and respect their decisions.
• Be Respectful. You thought this was just towards staff? We're all trying to escape into what we know and love. Let's be respectful towards everyone.
• No illegal content.No piracy, malware, doxxing, stolen accounts, etc. Marijuana is okay for discussion, just no pictures if you live in an area that's illegal.
• No spam. This is a rule as old as the internet. Some people have a hard time understanding what spam is. Spam is any unwanted messages sent to a large amount of users. Meaning, no single word messages, no multiple messages in a row, etc. Don't be that guy.
• No impersonation/Yes to being yourself. Do not pretend to be a Staff member, creator, developer, user, celebrity, etc. Just be yourself bro. We're all on a retro site together, be you.
• Keep edgy humor reasonable.We get it. The early internet was edgy. But there’s a difference between nostalgic internet humor and making the site miserable for everyone else, or making it so we have to try and contact local authorities.
• Do not abuse exploits or bugs. This site is a passion project, and actively being worked on. There's going to be some bugs or exploits here and there. Do NOT exploit them. We WILL reward you for telling us about them and not exploit them.
• One account per person. We get that some people have family/friends. However, if we find that a single user has multiple accounts we will ask what your main account is, and ban the others, or choose one ourselves if we do not get a response. Multiple accounts cause issues with ban evasion, fake engagement, farming systems, etc.
• Keep roleplay/drama contained. If you have an issue, do NOT bring it to the publics attention. There's DMs, and we've even went a step ahead and made it a lot easier to use in the chat box. So you can handle drama/RP there.
• Staff decisions are final. If you feel you've been handled unjustly by a moderator, or staff member reach out to Xyphien directly with proof/evidence.
• Respect the retro atmosphere. LonePortal is meant to feel like a fun escape from the modern internet. Don’t intentionally try to ruin that experience for others. Keep things retro, or retro themed. You can discuss new games but try to keep them retro inspired new games.

Q: Why does the site look like its from 2003?
A: Because that's the point! LonePortal is intentionally designed to look and feel like the old web, while actually running on modern tech behind the scenes.

Q: How do I join the community?
A: Register on the forum - one account gives you access to the forums, the chat, and your profile shows up in the "Who's Online" section on the homepage.

Q: Can I suggest a game for the arcade?
A: Post your suggestion in the forum! We're always looking to add more classic Flash games.

Q: How do I advertise on LonePortal?
A: Email webmaster@loneportal.com and we'll talk old-school banner ads.

Q: Can I add my site to the web ring?
A: Yes! Email webmaster@loneportal.com with your site name and URL.

Q: How much are Ad Banners?
A: The ad banners are COMPLETELY FREE and are ONLY for LonePortal promotion. If you make your own LonePortal site, forum post, flash game ad, whatever the case be that's LonePortal related you can submit it to have it approved and added to the banner ad section completely free! We take ZERO $$$ from ad banners. This site is 100% free to use and we plan on keeping it that way!

Q: What's the catch if you don't profit off of it?
A: I'm a disabled US veteran. I have been retired since I was 26, and I use a little bit of my income to fund LonePortal. I have been using the internet since around 1999, back in that day there was no 'grindset' mindset. Nearly everything on the internet was passion projects. There was no end goal to make millions because no one really knew what they were getting into. Everyone was just friendly, and curious. I want to bring back this mindset, and that lifestyle of the internet. Be the change you want to see.

This site is for the OGs and those who want to experience what the internet was like before corperate greed and the 'grindset' mindset took over the population.
